Happy 2nd Birthday Jackson

Happy birthday to the little boy who lights up my life.

The little boy who finally after years of struggling with infertility and praying for a miracle, showed up and made me a mama.

He’s my hopes and my dreams.  My happy faces and my silly dances.

He’s my racecar, my monkey, my little fishie, bubbs and giggles.

My whole heart, my sweet dreams.

My Peter Pan.

My Jackson.

Everyday is Neverland with you… let’s never grow up… never…okay? 🙂

Jackson’s Turning 2!!

Oh my little man…

I have no idea how this kid is going to be turning 2 next week.  It seems like not too long ago we were just bringing him home from the hospital.  My sweet miracle baby…

I’ll have more to say on that on his actual birthday, but for now I just wanted to share his 2 year photos we did this past weekend.  I don’t take nearly enough photos of him like I should.  One of my new year resolutions was to take more pictures of my own family (along with cutting back on sweets *hides empty box of Girl Scout cookies* )  I mean who could get tired of looking at THIS face!? 😉

Goodwin/Curry Family | Orange County CA Family Photographer

I have known most of this family for quite a while.  I’m sure Alley, Ian and Miss Maddie look familiar from their maternity and newborn sessions, but this is the first time I’ve been able to photograph Ian’s entire side of the family!  Alley and I met while working at the salon when I did hair and Megan (Alley’s best friend and Ian’s sister) was always in there, so we got to know eachother as well, along with her Mom Naomi and sister Joanne!  I’ve always had so much fun while hanging around this family and was thrilled that they asked me to photograph them this year!

I love when families take my advice on what to wear for photos because the tips I give on my page just photograph so well, and this awesome family did so great!  They were so perfectly put together and looked amazing! We wanted to do this family session down on the sand in Seal Beach, but when I arrived, mother nature had a different idea.  The wind was blowing like crazy and sand was flying everywhere!  We ended up walking a few blocks inland and starting our session off on the grass by this old Pacific Electric train car, now turned museum.  It was adorable!  We finally made it down to the beach toward the end of our session and the wind had calmed down a bit and the lighting was amazing.

Thank you Goodwin/Curry family!  I had the best time at your family session in Seal Beach!

The Best of 2012: Teens, Seniors & Women

Some of my favorite female portraits of 2012.  I seriously have the most beautiful clients ever!  Every single one of them!  This category was really hard to narrow down because I have soooo many more Teen, Senior & Women photos that I love!

The Wellman Family

The Wellman family was referred to me by one of my awesome cousins.  One of the girls who works for him is friends with Anna (the gorgeous momma) and the rest is history!  This family, I have to say, is drop dead gorgeous!  They were so sweet and fun to work with and honestly their session is probably up there in my top favorites!

Anna wanted to do something at home and something “them” which I was head over heels for since I love photographing people in their element.  I love when I get to showcase client’s day to day lives.  I arrived at their beautiful home and just kind of followed them around.  They were so easy going and welcoming and it felt as if we were old friends!  We played in the backyard, went next door to the park and then finished our session with them in PJs jumping on the bed and cuddling.  The love they have for eachother and the fun they have together was so apparent and heartwarming.

Thank you Wellman family for welcoming me into your home and lives!  I had the best time!  xoxo

The Best of 2012: Silhouettes

It’s 2013 and it’s been a while since I’ve blogged last! Now that my new website and blog are almost fully up and running (thank you Posh Perspective) I plan to be back to blogging regularly!

To kick off the new year I’m going to do a series of posts highlighting some of my favorite photos I took in 2012 and post them in different categories. This first post, I’d like to highlight my top favorite Silhouette images of 2012!

I love silhouette shots, because they don’t focus on your makeup, or your hair color, or the necklace you are wearing, but rather they tell a story using your body language. The way your knee bends, the way a couple leans toward eachother or the direction of your face is pointing in. It all paints a beautiful image and even though you cannot see your eyes, or your smile you can feel the emotion. I love the challenge that each silhouette brings, and love to storytell through them. Enjoy 🙂

Max & Jackson {Cousins} | Orange County, CA Family Photographer

Being a photographer, I spend so much time planning and designing sessions for so many families, children and couples, that I very rarely am able to plan sessions of my own son.  I was finally able to, when we decided for my mom’s 60th birthday we wanted to do a big session of Mr J and my nephew and give her some enlarged prints!

J+A {Maternity} | Orange County, CA Maternity Photographer

I had the honor of meeting with Jacqueline and Augustine to photograph their maternity session.  These two were the sweetest couple.  They brought along their little dog named Honey, and she was so cute.  They are having a little boy due September 25th!

About a year and a half ago, Jacqueline and Augustine sadly lost Augustine’s daughter, Ann, to a brain tumor at only 4 years old.  They really wanted to incorporate her in part of their session since she is still very much a big part of their lives.  They keep her ashes in a sweet angel urn, which just seems so fitting for such a beautiful little soul.  These two represent such strength and love, and you can really tell what a support they are to each other.

If you would like to learn more or donate to the National Brain Tumor Society in Ann’s name, please visit this link http://www.braintumor.org/

Jacqueline & Augustine- thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your lives and capture these sweet memories for your growing family.  I have no doubt you will be amazing parents, because you already are <3

Danielle {Senior} | Orange County, CA Senior Photographer

Danielle was visiting the Orange County area on vacation this summer while in a move, cross country, from Florida to Washington.  I am so glad her mom contacted me to shoot her senior portraits while she was out here, because they were fun fun FUN!  Her awesome mom even got in a few shots!  Some of which will go down as my favorite mother daughter shots I’ve taken to date.

We ended up shooting down in Balboa, all around the fun zone, and then on the beach.  I really loved everything about this session!  From the bright colors of the fun zone representing Danielle’s lively and fun personality, to the soft and subtle colors on the beach… just loved everything about it.

Thanks so much Danielle for choosing me to capture these moments for you!  Good luck senior year at your new school! xoxo

Beach Minis | Orange County, CA Photographer

Whew!  I am behind on blogging and I apologize!  I have been so busy shooting and editing that I admit sometimes my blog gets a little neglected.  Make sure you’re following me on Facebook to see new work pretty much daily!

A few weeks back I had my very first annual Beach Mini weekend.  12 awesome families in 2 days!  It was hard but it was FUN!  I had such a great time chasing kids on the beach, playing with babies, seeing old friends and meeting new clients!

Here are a few sneak peeks (I’ll do an individual blog post for each one later one)
